For Your Windows

DON’T FIGHT CITY HALL!

on November 1, 2010

I bet a lot of window cleaners have scratched their heads in wonderment at times, and asked themselves, “What was the architect thinking, or was he?” ┬áBecause clean windows always improve the appearance of a building, it should be important that the cost of keeping the glass clean be taken into account when the design is proposed.

For example, here is London Assembly’s City Hall building with over 3,000 panes of glass. It opened about 8 years ago, and the cost to keep those panes cleans is about 140,000 pounds. Uh, that equals around $250,000, give or take a few dollars. And, some of the windows, because of the design, stay dirty anyway because they are just too hard to get to. This requires lots of washers, poles and lifts most likely.

Some critics think this is just a bit extravagant. What do you think?

Oh Toddy , don’t send any of the family to London ! If washing windows in the U.S.A. isn’t enough send them to Canada I think we have windows here that need cleaning . Imagine the poor birds who dies flying into those windows .. So sad they didn’t have a chance ! Bell
